When we are in a horrible situation, a place we might define as a living ‘hell on earth’, we are still far, far away from what actual Hell will be like. The Bible refers to a ‘lake of fire’ and also refers to it being a place of darkness. God will not be there, and God is the source of all light and hope and life. An eternal death in a place without God is a horrible fate that I would not wish on anyone!
Even in our very worst moments on this earth, the Lord is still there with us. He goes through our storms of life, and He longs to carry us through them so that we can praise Him – both through the storm and even more on the other side.
At the end of days, there will be a fate much worse than we can imagine for those that don’t accept Jesus as their Lord and Savior. If you don’t want to relive the hardest times in your life when God was in the world with you, I promise you will not want to see what it will be like when He is nowhere to be found!
In this life, even when we are at the bottom of the deepest well of pain or grief, there is still a view of the sky above. We can still hope for a day when we are out of the pit and once again stand on solid ground. The horror of life after death without Jesus is that the well is pitch black, with no view of light, no chance for escape, and no hope of a better day.
Cling to the hope and light in this life that comes only through Christ, and glory in the beautiful and eternal life that God so badly wants for you!
God is light; in him there is no darkness at all. (1 John 1:5b)
