Our families are precious, and the time we spend with them is often taken for granted. Some of us may not see our loved ones often, or perhaps we see them so often we forget what a blessing they are. We should frequently stop and remember all the good things in our life.
God has blessed us tremendously by giving us life, shelter, food… most of us are blessed far beyond these basic necessities, however. How many of us have nice homes, cars, and other material things? What about loved ones? It's important to remember there are those that have no family, or their family is broken and dysfunctional.
Thanksgiving is a day to remember our blessings and say a prayer of gratitude to the Father from whom all blessings flow. May I suggest you make a habit of reading Psalm 100 every Thanksgiving? It’s a short but beautiful prayer of thanksgiving to our Creator.
Psalm 100
A psalm. For giving grateful praise.
Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth.
Worship the Lord with gladness;
come before him with joyful songs.
Know that the Lord is God.
It is he who made us, and we are his;
we are his people, the sheep of his pasture.
Enter his gates with thanksgiving
and his courts with praise;
give thanks to him and praise his name.
For the Lord is good and his love endures forever;
his faithfulness continues through all generations.
