When I read these verses from the ‘Love Chapter’ that Paul wrote to his brothers and sisters in Corinth, I can’t help but think that this is a perfect word picture of our Lord. You could read this and replace the word “Love” with the word “God”.
God is patient, God is kind… He keeps no records of wrongs… God does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth… See what I mean?
When you think about the love you have for your spouse or your child, or whomever in your life you feel the most love for, you get a very small glimpse of the love that God feels for you. He loves you more than you can ever possibly imagine!
For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb.
I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
Your works are wonderful, I know that full well. (Psalm 139:13-14)
You think a mother’s love for her long-hoped for child that is born out of her womb is a deep and abiding love? Of course! But how much greater is the love of the One who stitched that child together?
Are we talking about a love like no other? You better believe it!
