“Hallelujah!
For our Lord God Almighty reigns.
Let us rejoice and be glad
and give him glory!
For the wedding of the Lamb has come,
and his bride has made herself ready.
Fine linen, bright and clean,
was given her to wear.” (Revelation 19:6-8a)
You see, on this earth and at this time, we are to be preparing ourselves for our wedding to Him. He has already done everything on His end. After all, the groom always says His vows first! His perfect work on the cross was His vow to us.
When a groom-to-be and bride-to-be are preparing, there is supposed to be a separation - until the vow is complete there should be a veil between them and the very deepest intimacy. It is only after vows are complete the veil is removed. This is how God planned it, and too many in this day and age do not abide by those rules, but the Lamb is the Perfect Gentlemen. He patiently waits for us to complete our vows.
When Jesus said ‘It is finished!’ on the cross that fateful day, He was saying ‘I do!’ to you and me. The veil was torn in two, and the separation between us was gone. The only thing standing between intimacy between you and your groom is your vows. Your vows are simply accepting the beautiful gift that the Holy Groom gave to you, taking all your sin and shame away and making a way for you to be His Bride!
And talk about pre-marital jitters - have any of you sweat blood in anguish the night before you said your vows? He did! Of course, if our vows were as violent and brutal as His were, perhaps we would think twice about the whole thing! Of course - hopefully your Bride won’t prove as unfaithful and stubborn as His, either!
Then the angel said to me, “Write this: Blessed are those who are invited to the wedding supper of the Lamb!” And he added, “These are the true words of God.” (Revelation 19:9)
