and to Sarah, who gave you birth.
When I called him he was only one man,
and I blessed him and made him many. (Isaiah 51:2)
God calls us – but His call is in the singular. Abraham was just one man with his helpmate Sarah. God did not call multiple people, but just the man named Abram.
Each of us are only one when we are called - God's call is personal. I am not saved by my parent’s faith or anyone else's, but only based on my own faith am I judged and saved. In this way, we are all like Abraham. Remember, he was not Abraham before God called him, then his name was Abram. In the same way, before God called me I was a different man than I am today.
We all are called to show our faith by believing and following the One who calls. It is by Abrahams faith, by my faith, by your faith - that we are saved.
What does Scripture say? “Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness.” (Romans 4:3)
I can save myself and no other, but I must in turn show and share my faith, so others become open to hearing the call.
We must lift the Son of God up high for all to see!
