These numbers for chapter and verse were added by man and not God, but isn’t it still ironic that the verse with ‘666’ is about turning away from God? That’s what the devil wants, after all… these pictures and cartoons about the laughing devil with the pitchfork is nonsense. Instead, picture a slick, lying used car salesman that tries to sucker you into buying the shiny car he knows is really a lemon. He’s all smiles until the sale is done, and only when it’s too late do you realize you’ve been shafted.
And when this lying serpent has finally been disposed of and thrown into the lake of fire, the one thing I can tell you is… he will not be laughing. Endless torment is not a laughing matter. And let’s be clear, this punishment was meant for the fallen angels… God doesn’t want any of His children to end up there, and yet He will allow it if we live our lives demanding Him to stay away.
Let us answer the Master in the same way Simon Peter did:
Then Jesus said to the twelve, “Do you also want to go away?”
But Simon Peter answered Him, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life. Also we have come to believe and know that You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” (John 6:69)
