When we judge or condemn others, we place ourselves under judgement and condemnation. Likewise, our forgiveness sets us up for forgiveness from above.
Forgiveness sets me free of the feelings against another person. When I set them free in my heart by forgiving them, I find I also am set free from the anguish that was binding me. This is important and necessary if we are to be freed to live in Christ.
The same Lord who commanded us to forgive is the same Lord who can make us free:
“Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed.” (John 8:36)
Judge yourself to be unworthy of judging others. Condemn yourself to a life free of condemnation. Free yourself to show forgiveness to others, discovering true freedom in the process.
