In the distance, I spot a lifeboat bouncing on the waves, and immediately begin struggling to reach it. Using all my strength to keep my head above water, I fight against the Sea of Trouble that keeps trying to pull me under. As I heave myself, exhausted, into the tiny boat, I see a name on the side. The lifeboat is named ‘My Faith’.
Without oars or sail, My Faith and I float wherever the Current takes us. As the waves rise up in the Sea of Trouble, I can only cling tightly to My Faith with eyes closed, calling out to the Unseen for help.
When I open my eyes, I see My Faith has grown as I held on tightly through the storms in the Sea of Trouble. What once was a tiny raft has now become a dinghy, with sail attached. My Faith now can use the Wind of the Spirit to help push me in whatever direction chosen.
I then notice a second thing – where I was once alone, pushed through the Current every which way – now I see that My Faith is tethered to a massive sailing vessel named ‘The Son’, with huge sails billowing in the Wind.
My Faith has now grown large enough to become a vessel to help others. As I see others climb aboard, their eyes are turned toward The Son, for they know this is where their security truly lies. My Faith is still growing, now becoming a full sailboat of its own, though still tethered to The Son.
I look around, and see hundreds, now thousands of life rafts, dinghies, and sailboats spread out across the great Sea – all tethered and being pulled along behind The Son. As I watch, some of the smaller rafts fall away – often capsized by the Current that constantly tugs at them. More astonishing than that, I see some intentionally cut away their tethers, and they are left behind to float with the Current, eventually to be swallowed by the Deep.
I realize something else: As My Faith grows ever larger - becoming more like The Son after every storm that rages through the Sea of Trouble, I also am developing my sea legs. With each crashing wave, My Faith is moved less and less – and my feet become more firmly planted on the deck of My Faith.
After a lifetime in the Sea of Trouble, I finally see a Beautiful Shore in the distance. As My Faith and all the others continue to follow The Son, we safely reach the Heavenly Dock.
I suddenly realize that My Faith and I are now one.
