Here is the entirety of Psalm 117:
Praise the Lord, all you nations.
Praise him, all you people of the earth.
For his unfailing love for us is powerful;
the Lord’s faithfulness endures forever.
Praise the Lord!
Short and to the point…I like it! Psalm 118 both starts and ends with the following verse:
Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good!
His faithful love endures forever. (Psalm 118 - verses 1 and 29)
Good stuff, no? This is the very heart of the bible, and this is the message that is found there – “Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good! His faithful love endures forever.” Doesn’t get much more clear than that!
Moving on to Psalm 119 – the longest Psalm, and indeed the longest chapter in the entire bible - verse 11 of Psalm 119 (aka 119:11) says the following:
I have hidden your word in my heart,
that I might not sin against you.
So what am I getting at with all of this? Well, it’s just very interesting to me that the very heart of the bible so efficiently encapsulates the heart of the matter for us.
Praise the Lord! Give thanks to the Lord! His faithful love endures forever! Hide His word in your heart so you don’t sin against Him!
I think that does a nice job of summing up how we should live our lives…don’t you?
