For by one sacrifice he has made perfect forever those who are being made holy. (Hebrews 10:14)
Christ is the King above all kings – and Christ is the humble and suffering Servant.
“You call me ‘Teacher’ and ‘Lord,’ and rightly so, for that is what I am. Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another’s feet. (John 13:13-15)
Jesus is man – and Jesus is God.
For there is one God and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus, who gave himself as a ransom for all people. (1 Timothy 2:5-6)
When Jesus says “not as the world gives do I give” he references peace but isn’t that true for everything He gives? Nothing we get from Jesus is the same as what we get from the world, even though they may share a name. Here are two examples:
LOVE - The love of God is unlike the love from people. At our very best, we can only get the merest glimpse of the perfect and steadfast love of the Father from those in the world who love us best.
PEACE - The peace that comes from God “surpasses all understanding”. This means when we are in tune with God we can walk through the worst this life has for us with an indescribable peace that the world can never know or understand.
It shouldn’t be surprising that our God defies explanation. If we could understand everything about Him and everything He did, we wouldn’t be worshipping the right god…
