God made the stars – but why did He make so many? There are stars that we can’t even see – more than we could ever count. What’s the point?
Maybe because He is just that big. To us, it’s beyond our grasp – to Him, it’s just another day at the office (so to speak). Or maybe because He made them for His good pleasure, not mine.
Just because I can’t see them doesn’t make them pointless – after all, I’m not the point, He is! There are people that I have never met, animals and plants I’ve yet to see; why shouldn’t there be stars that I can’t see from my little spec of the earth? He created everything, and it was good, so who am I to question it?
Much like the stars, you and I were not created for our own good pleasure, but to bring glory to the Creator. The stars are not there for me, although I love looking at them. They are however, a reminder that our God is a God of greatness and majesty and glory. He can very well make stars, planets, or anything else for His own glory. The stars glorify God in the night sky, and my job is to glorify Him where I am.
The heavens proclaim the glory of God.
The skies display his craftsmanship.
Day after day they continue to speak;
night after night they make him known.
They speak without a sound or word;
their voice is never heard.
Yet their message has gone throughout the earth,
and their words to all the world. (Psalm 19:1-4)
