Okay, so as anyone who watches old vampire movies knows, there are a couple of distinguishing features of your basic Grade A Vampire. Let me explain:
I feast on flesh and blood – every week. In fact, when those of my kind gather, we have what probably seems like a bizarre ritual where we actually celebrate the First of our Kind by taking these symbols of His Body and His Blood, following the ancient tradition He set forth:
While they were eating, Jesus took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and gave it to his disciples, saying, “Take and eat; this is my body.” Then he took a cup, and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them, saying, “Drink from it, all of you. This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.” (Matthew 26:26-28)
He impressed upon us how very important it was to follow this ritual.
Jesus said to them, “Very truly I tell you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day. (John 6:53-54)
When you come in contact with a Vampire you die, and then you become one of them. I have died and come back to life.
For if you live according to the flesh, you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the misdeeds of the body, you will live. (Romans 8:13)
Vampires live forever. I am an eternal being who has life because of Christ.
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. (John 3:16)
And finally, mirrors don’t show my reflection - when I’m doing this walk right, people won’t see me, they will see Christ in me reflected back to them.
As if that isn’t enough, turns out I’m also a werewolf! Here’s my proof:
When I’m in the light, and the Son is warming my soul, I’m exactly who I’m supposed to be.
But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin. (1 John 1:7)
But when darkness overtakes me, and the nearest light is the reflection of the Son around me, but not part of me – the monster inside me is plain to see, urged on by my purely animalistic instincts.
For they mouth empty, boastful words and, by appealing to the lustful desires of the flesh, they entice people who are just escaping from those who live in error. (2 Peter 2:18)
Oh Lord, let me be the moon that reflects Your Glory, and not just one who occasionally glimpses Your Light through the reflection of others!
