Peter is all of us. Who can stand before the Lamb who takes away the sins of the world and not say the same? Peter’s response was after seeing a clear miracle by the Son of Man. This miracle was an impossible number of fish in a spot he had fished in all night with no success.
My miracle was an impossible number of blessings in a spot in my life that was dry and arid. What your miracle is I don’t know, but if you have ‘eyes to see and ears to hear’, you will discover it for yourself.
The question is whether you look but don’t see; hear but don’t listen. God is doing miracles all around us. Some are small miracles, like letting you wake up for another chance. Some are so big you must actively look for another reason than God for what just happened.
When God put impossible blessings in front of me at a time when I was the furthest away from Him – at a time when I wasn’t even looking for Him – I didn’t immediately recognize this was His Providence over my life. But then He kept moving: slowly changing my perspective, showing me glimpses of Him in ways both large and small. I’m not too bright, but even I had to notice eventually.
He never gives up, so the question is – when will we open our hearts and minds to what He is doing all around us, fall to our knees like Peter, and admit that we are too sinful to have the attention of our Creator and Savior?
