However amazing physical revolving doors are, the ones we sometimes see in our relationships are the opposite. We are such fickle beings that we often create these ‘on-again/off-again’ relationships with those around us. Like the physical doors, getting stuck in the wrong place can be a harrowing experience.
The worst ‘revolving door’ relationship is the one we have with our God. We transition between the fresh air of freedom and the claustrophobic spaces we’ve self-created. The merry-go-round effect that we put ourselves through keeps us ever striving but never fulfilled.
Let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. (Hebrews 12:1b-2a)
We must stop this incessant spinning in circles and instead move forward, keeping our eyes steady and firmly focused on Jesus. No more half-measure faith; no more circumstantial faith; only full-bodied faith will do! Tear out the revolving door of this cyclical relationship with the Lord, and let the full and fresh air of Jesus be constantly blowing into your heart.
