What a beautifully written word picture God paints through His prophet Isaiah. The Lord inhabits eternity… but is He saying those of us that are humble and contrite are with Him in eternity?
I like to think it is Jesus that God is referring to residing with. Jesus is certainly humble and contrite in spirit, and He also dwells with the Father. If so, then this is saying that Jesus resides with the Father (we know this is true) and that through Jesus our spirits and hearts are revived… Sounds right, doesn’t it?
As a humble and contrite King, Jesus rode into Jerusalem to begin the Passion week in fulfillment of the prophecy found in Zechariah:
Rejoice, O people of Zion! Shout in triumph, O people of Jerusalem! Look, your king is coming to you. He is righteous and victorious, yet he is humble, riding on a donkey – riding on a donkey’s colt. (Zechariah 9:9)
And even now our humble and contrite King sits with God the Father, reviving our hearts and souls.
