A – Abram
- In the Old Testament we read the story of Abram (later Abraham). He and his wife Sarai (later Sarah) were too old to conceive a child, yet through God’s promise that is exactly what happened.
- In the New Testament we read the story of Zechariah and his wife Elizabeth. They also were too old to conceive a child, yet God once again promised them one, and that is exactly what happened.
Zechariah and Abram were both faithful men who were promised miraculous sons. Additionally, both of these ‘miracle sons’ were born to make a path for greater things. Isaac was the promised son through whom came Israel and the twelve tribes, and John the Baptist the promised son who would announce the coming of the Lord Jesus.
When the promise is from the Lord, there is no doubt that it will happen. Our circumstances will not prevent His Providence!
For all of God’s promises have been fulfilled in Christ with a resounding “Yes!” And through Christ, our “Amen” ascends to God for his glory. (2 Corinthians 1:20)
