Now we see things imperfectly, like puzzling reflections in a mirror, but then we will see everything with perfect clarity. All that I know now is partial and incomplete, but then I will know everything completely, just as God now knows me completely. (1 Corinthians 13:12)
Other translations say it is like we are “looking through a glass darkly”. When we get outside and see the world in all its beauty – the vast mountains, expansive forests, incredible light shows in the sky – the bible says we are seeing a glimpse of the Creator.
The heavens proclaim the glory of God.
The skies display his craftsmanship.
Day after day they continue to speak;
night after night they make him known. (Psalm 19:1-2)
As beautiful as they are, what if we are only seeing the barest shadow of the true beauty that lies before us? Like standing out in the wilderness on a moonless night with sunglasses on, what are we missing?
I can’t wait to see what things look like when I see with perfect clarity. I have a feeling that once you have truly perfect vision, nothing will ever look the same again.
