Like those worn out rags, I’m torn and dirty. There is nothing in me that is ready for anything but the trash heap. And yet, who is this that picks me up and slowly begins the process of washing me clean and stitching me back together? Slowly, methodically, I am restored by these Loving Hands, until I am ready to be used again.
When I am returned to a state of beautifully useful incompleteness, these same Loving Hands intertwine me with others that He has also restored. Together, we are bound into a beautifully flawed patchwork quilt meant to warm this cold, harsh world - to be used until that great Day comes that we can be made new.
Then He who sat on the throne said, “Behold, I make all things new.” (Revelation 21:5a)
