Save me, O God, by your name;
vindicate me by your might. (Psalm 54:1)
Reading through Psalms, you can clearly see how David writes about both the good times and the bad. He sends praises to his King, followed shortly thereafter by a heart wrenching cry to his Savior.
For the director of music. A psalm of David. When the prophet Nathan came to him after David had committed adultery with Bathsheba.
Have mercy on me, O God,
according to your unfailing love;
according to your great compassion
blot out my transgressions.
Wash away all my iniquity
and cleanse me from my sin. (Psalm 51:1-2)
Saul, Bathsheba, Absalom - whether it was enemies stalking him or his own sin against God, he always returned to the only One who could save him.
We can learn a lot from David. When times are good – praise God! When trouble comes – cry out to the Lord!
