Do not be wise in your own eyes;
Fear the Lord and depart from evil.
It will be health to your flesh,
And strength to your bones. (Proverbs 3:7-8)
In two verses, the wise King Solomon laid down a recipe for life. Really, in just the first verse he gives the recipe – be humble, fear God, and avoid evil. That pretty much covers it! Verse 8 just provides the outcome of putting verse 7 into practice.
Here’s another one:
See, God has come to save me.
I will trust in him and not be afraid.
The Lord God is my strength and my song;
he has given me victory. (Isaiah 12:2)
Succinct and to the point – God saves, trust him, He has made a way to victory for us. In the world of Twitter, this would be a good place to put - #MicDrop.
And of course, we can’t talk about verses that sum up the whole shooting match without including this famous one from the New Testament:
“You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your strength, and all your mind.’ And, ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.” (Luke 10:27)
Seriously, what more needs to be said? My Twitterization of this verse (yeah, that’s probably not a word) is: “With everything you have – love God. With everything God gives – love others.”
The answer to living a great life - in a nutshell!
