If every person would follow these instructions, we would no longer live in an evil world. Of course, everyone is not going to follow this; yet it is so concise and beautiful. We are told how to live so that we can have hope – shouldn’t everyone want that?
In fact, there is no hope for us without living a life of devotion to God through Jesus Christ. If you wonder why this world often seems so dark and foreboding, it’s because the majority of the people on this planet do not have the hope that comes through a relationship with Jesus.
The next verse continues the lesson:
He gave his life to free us from every kind of sin, to cleanse us, and to make us his very own people, totally committed to doing good deeds. (Titus 2:14)
Because of our devotion, we have hope. Because we live with hope we do good deeds. In a world where everyone is looking out for #1, we are to be performing good actions for others. Our deeds of love will show the world that there is something more…
The final instruction for how to live is also an important key to making our world a better place:
You must teach these things and encourage the believers to do them. (Titus 2:15a)
