All who believe and follow Christ, have a contract with Him that is sealed and established. Much like when we purchase a home through a lender - in this example, Christ is the Bank. He has already paid in full for me! However, here Christ also made the down payment by placing a bit of the Spirit in me, to help keep me strong and guide me as I go through this life.
And while the Spirit has been graciously given to me in my current body, every brick I tear down of this earthly dwelling only adds more to my heavenly home.
He must increase, but I must decrease. (John 3:30)
As I strip away pieces of this ‘flesh tent’, I simultaneously add to the heavenly abode that Christ prepares for me – that He has already promised is being prepared!
In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. (John 14:2)
Whatever happens, please do not default on this loan! He owns the house, but I can still choose to default by not abiding in Him, by turning away from His free and beautiful offer!
In days of old, breaking the King's seal was punishable by death - this punishment still awaits those that break the covenant of the King! But for those who continue to build up escrow by living for Him and becoming more Christ-like… well, I think our brother Paul said it best:
“No eye has seen, no ear has heard,
and no mind has imagined
what God has prepared
for those who love him.” (1 Corinthians 2:9b)
