Have you ever thoughtfully considered what it means to be alive or dead?
If, whether by illness or accident, your spirit leaves this earth... If you wake up in Paradise and then get pulled back to this steaming cesspool of a world (comparatively speaking), have you been returned to life, or pulled from it? I’d say you were pulled from life and returned to the land of death and the dying!
On the other hand, if your spirit leaves this earth and wakes up in a hellish place that is worse than your worst nightmare, and you are then pulled from Hades and returned to this beautiful world (again comparatively), were you then returned to life? I’d absolutely say yes!
It all depends on what is on the other side of this life, does it not? Am I truly alive as I write this? Or am I a dead man with a born-again spirit?
What I’m trying to say is this: you, me, we are all on Death Row, and there are only two ways out. Either we go to the chamber of death, or we receive a life-giving pardon!
I don’t know about you, but when I leave this earth, then I will finally (and eternally) be truly and completely alive - and if that’s not something to be thankful for, then I don’t know what is!
I hope to see you there!
But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved. (Ephesians 2:4-5)
