Or would our loving and just God use a lying, adulteress leader, who would rather send someone to their death than risk exposing his own evil agenda? Naturally, you know I’m referring here to King David.
You see, God doesn’t limit who He uses based on our human weaknesses, but on our strengths. Do you think the indiscretions of Samson, David, or any other leader He chose came as a shock and surprise to our Lord, who knows all and sees all through time from beginning to end? Hardly!
The great pastor Billy Graham was a godly man chosen to speak to millions, but not to lead a nation. Mr. Graham was the right utensil for evangelism, David had the right gifts to be King, and Samson was what was needed to lead the Israelites against the Philistines. God knows what He is doing!
Years after the Judges and King David, the Lord chose to use King Nebuchadnezzar - possibly one of the most evil and brutal geniuses to ever live. And when God was done with him, this once self-proclaimed ‘god’ was on his knees in humble surrender to the one true God.
You don’t have to be perfect, but you must be chosen. Each of us has both good and bad traits, but God will use us to be our very best, if we let him.
“The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.” (1 Samuel 16:7b)
