neither are your ways my ways,”
declares the Lord.
“As the heavens are higher than the earth,
so are my ways higher than your ways
and my thoughts than your thoughts. (Isaiah 55:8-9)
The nearest star to our Sun is called Proxima Centauri – it lies a mere 4.3 light years from the Sun, and would take well over 70,000 years to travel, using our best current technology. That is somewhere in the range of 2500 generations down the road. So, not likely to have an option for that in your local travel agent any time soon…
Yet, that's basically how God compares what we think and say and do to what He thinks, says, and does.
Here’s the deal - the best person you’ve ever met – or the most godly person in the entire world - is as far away from God's Holiness as our sun is from Proxima Centauri. That is one reason why the very first thing God starts the Ten Commandments with is to not worship anyone or anything except for Him.
You must realize that people will eventually fail you – the ones you love will sometimes disappoint. Surely you know, preachers or church leaders are in need of a Savior just as much as you and I are. Even the very best of us can't come even close to perfection! In fact, there is not now nor has ever been a person that ever could - except the only One who already has!
Jesus was a man with no sin – the only man to have never sinned. He is the Holy One that was fully God and fully man, and no one else has, can, or will ever come close. Put your faith in Him and only Him - because He is the only One who is worthy of it!
He had done no wrong
and had never deceived anyone.
But he was buried like a criminal;
he was put in a rich man’s grave.
But it was the Lord’s good plan to crush him
and cause him grief.
Yet when his life is made an offering for sin,
he will have many descendants.
He will enjoy a long life,
and the Lord’s good plan will prosper in his hands.
When he sees all that is accomplished by his anguish,
he will be satisfied.
And because of his experience,
my righteous servant will make it possible
for many to be counted righteous,
for he will bear all their sins. (Isaiah 53:9-11 - written ~700 yrs before Christ came to earth)
