Living for Christ is about producing fruit. And we must continue to produce fruit as long as we are part of this earth. We cannot think the fruit we may have produced in the past is enough and we are somehow not obliged to continue. When we are done working for God’s Kingdom we will know - because He will take us from this world!
Imagine you have a tree that produces tasty apples one year and then the next year produces no apples at all. If you could talk to the tree you might say, “Hey apple tree, what’s up with that?” The tree may respond with, “Okay sorry, but remember those great apples you had last year?”
This may work for a year or two, but eventually you’ll be like, “Yo apple tree, you haven’t produced any fruit for 5 years! Maybe I should just chop you down and find a tree that will produce for me every year!”
Of course, after you realize how silly it is to talk to a tree, you will hopefully also realize how pointless it would be to keep a tree in your orchard that isn’t producing any more…
We need to stay focused on doing the Kingdom work that God has for us. If we keep putting forth the effort to follow His plan for us, the fruits will be there.
