But it’s worth it, because I truly believe that every word of the Holy Bible is there for a reason. In the Old Testament, we often see signs and shadows of our New Testament world. If you don’t work your way through it, you may miss something that strikes you….like these verses from the 40th chapter of Exodus:
“Then the cloud covered the tabernacle of meeting, and the glory of the LORD filled the tabernacle. And Moses was not able to enter the tabernacle of meeting, because the cloud rested above it, and the glory of the LORD filled the tabernacle.” (Exodus 40:34-35)
Can you imagine what this scene must have been like, when “the glory of the Lord filled the tabernacle.”? I’m just guessing here, but it probably would blow away the best rock concert laser light show…
“Whenever the cloud was taken up from above the tabernacle, the children of Israel would go onward in all their journeys. But if the cloud was not taken up, then they did not journey till the day that it was taken up.” (Exodus 40:36-37)
There was a clear sign to God’s chosen people when they were to stay, and when they were to go (kick in The Clash, “Should I stay or should I go”).
“For the cloud of the LORD was above the tabernacle by day, and fire was over it by night, in the sight of all the house of Israel, throughout all their journeys.” (Exodus 40:38 NKJV)
So what about you? Are you filled with the Glory of God? We are His temple now, you know… And are you looking to the Lord for direction? Is God telling you to stay put because you are exactly where He wants you to be? Or is it time for you to get up, follow the cloud, and go where God wants you to be?
