These are just some of the daily and all-too-common heart-wrenching, soul-searching events that challenge our very faith in humanity. How are we to respond to this daily heartache?
The truth is - the world we currently find ourselves in is damned.
We may not like to hear or speak of it, but it remains a fact. From the very moment - thousands of years ago - when we broke this world, it was doomed. As sure as that precious little girl who could not be saved from the invasive tumors attacking her still developing brain and spine.
Heartbreaking? Absolutely. Avoidable? Absolutely not.
We must come to grips with the fact that we are all going to end up this way. There is no way to avoid the fate of this world – ALL must die. Animals, plants, humans – we are all sentenced to a certain and unavoidable death.
For those that do not recognize their Creator, this is a hopeless and sad existence indeed. With no Savior there is literally no hope. So it is no wonder so many in this world have no hope – they’ve never met Him! Honestly, I don’t know how those without the precious hope that we have can keep from ending it all. If this world is all there is, what is the point of it all?
Thanks be to God, this world is NOT all that there is. And thanks be to God, there is Hope, and we know His name is Jesus!
If only for this life we have hope in Christ, we are of all people most to be pitied. But Christ has indeed been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep. For since death came through a man, the resurrection of the dead comes also through a man. For as in Adam all die, so in Christ all will be made alive. (1 Corinthians 15:19-22)
