They said, “Moses permitted a man to write a certificate of divorce and send her away.”
“It was because your hearts were hard that Moses wrote you this law,” Jesus replied. “But at the beginning of creation God ‘made them male and female.’ ‘For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh.’ So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate.” (Mark 10:4-9)
In one answer about divorce, the Son of God not only explains why divorce tears apart what is supposed to be a beautiful new creation of husband and wife, but that divorce was never in God’s plan. He also quotes from Genesis, stating clearly that during creation, God made men and women (only).
He said to them, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. Truly I tell you, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.” And he took the children in his arms, placed his hands on them and blessed them. (Mark 10:14-16)
This succinct answer shows not only that Jesus loves children, but also is directly followed by Him quoting the commandment about not committing murder.
“You know the commandments: ‘You shall not murder, you shall not commit adultery, you shall not steal, you shall not give false testimony, you shall not defraud, honor your father and mother.’” (Mark 10:19)
God loves children and you should not kill. Is there any more clear and obvious argument against any Christian believing abortion is not a sin?
The 10th chapter of Mark has many other great teachings from the Master. This only covers the first 19 of 52 verses. This is just a small sampling of the deep and eternal truths that can be found when God speaks!
