that we may gain a heart of wisdom. (Psalm 90:12)
Do you ‘number your days’? I have to admit that many days go by that seem as if there was nothing significant in them… But remember this – our Creator gives us these fleeting moments for us to do His eternal work!
Lord, what are human beings that you care for them,
mere mortals that you think of them?
They are like a breath;
their days are like a fleeting shadow. (Psalm 144:3-4)
Though our lives are but a mere spec in God’s endless timeline, they bear eternal consequence. Each of us can create beautiful ripples in the sea of time. Our legacies are bound up in those we see, touch, and love. The seeds we plant today are all we can really know, as tomorrow is always beyond us.
Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes. (James 4:14)
Even a mist can add badly needed moisture to the ground, helping the seeds we and others plant to sprout into new life. There is no need to worry that our mist may quickly fade with the midday sun.
Do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day. (2 Peter 3:8)
To God, our lives are the tiniest blips on His cosmic scale of time. But each moment in time with God is as an eternity. In His Hands, our mist can join together to create a great ocean of believers.
Breathe in, move forward, and make every day count.
