Life feels like a tightrope sometimes. Balancing family and work along with the planned and unplanned events that come along can feel overwhelming for sure. At the end of the day, much like the tightrope walker, you must prioritize what you’re focusing on.
And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. (Hebrews 12:1-2)
It’s easy to say “just focus on Jesus” as a blanket answer to everything, but the reality is we have to start there. When we let the day-to-day trials of life overwhelm us, we lose focus on what really matters. My flat tire in rush hour traffic is not more important than my eternal destiny, even though there is certainly an immediacy to the event. Will I let the unexpected take priority over the promised?
This we know – no matter what life throws at us, we have a Savior that has overcome. When we walk on the plumb line of God’s Truth, we can maintain our balance no matter which way the wind blows.
Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart. (Hebrews 12:3)
