“Today, if you hear his voice,
do not harden your hearts.” (Hebrews 4:7)
2 Peter 3:8 tells us: “Do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day.”
If you make a decision to bow to Christ as your Lord and Savior today, you are transported 2000 years in the past (or just a blink of an eye to God) to a hill called Golgotha. Any day from right this moment until Jesus returns can be your TODAY! Remember, God is outside time, which is why He can simply say in Rev 13:8 that Jesus is the “Lamb who was slain from the foundation of the world”.
The verse above speaking of TODAY in Hebrews is taken from Psalm 95 and is a heartfelt plea David penned that came straight from God. TODAY is the day (whether past or future) you recognize Jesus as Lord and admit your role in driving those spikes into your Creator’s Hands and Feet.
TODAY is when you look at the soldier ramming a spear into the Savior’s ribs and see your own face. Zechariah 12:10 says, “They will look on me, the one they have pierced, and they will mourn for him as one mourns for an only child, and grieve bitterly for him as one grieves for a firstborn son”. When we recognize the part we played to put Him on that cross, that is our TODAY.
And because time is irrelevant to God, we can say our TODAY was when we stood there watching Jesus hang from that cross, blood dripping down His body and onto the dirt below, begging Him to forgive us because we didn’t know what we were doing.
Our TODAY is when we stoop down below His hanging feet and beg forgiveness and mercy from the King of Kings. I hope with all my heart that you have your TODAY story to tell! I can't wait to hear it when we chat in Eternity.
