In the book of Revelations, Jesus says (Rev 2:17): “To him who overcomes….I will give him a white stone, and on the stone a new name written which no one knows except him who receives it.”
I know what my parents named me, and I know the various names I’ve been called throughout my life (some not fit to repeat, I’m afraid). But this is saying I have a new name that nobody knows… and I will only receive this name if and when I overcome this world and come into His Kingdom.
I don’t know for sure, but I have a feeling that when I see my real name, I will say: “Of course! That is my name!” – like I knew it all along, but just couldn’t put voice to it.
Then just a bit later in Revelation 3:12, Jesus says something else that I find fascinating – He has a different name too! Check this out: “He who overcomes… I will write on him My new name.”
Okay, so how cool is that? I mean, I’ve never personally been interested in ‘getting inked’, but I am definitely up for getting my Lord’s new name written on me!
