I will not let myself rest.
I will not let my eyes sleep
nor close my eyelids in slumber
until I find a place to build a house for the Lord,
a sanctuary for the Mighty One of Israel.” (Psalm 132:3-5)
These words are from the great King David. He was speaking of building the Temple in Jerusalem. This Temple was a physical building, but we know now that God has put in a change of address!
“He is the God who made the world and everything in it. Since he is Lord of heaven and earth, he doesn’t live in man-made temples” (Acts 17:24)
Jesus tore the temple veil, and now lives in the heart of His believers. Like David, we should also not rest until the Lord takes His rightful place in the throne room of our hearts! If your throne room is occupied by any other, you truly have a heart problem. Only trusting in the Great Physician can cure your disease!
Come, let us enter the throne room of the very deepest part of us with humble and contrite hearts, for our King is found here!
Don’t you realize that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given to you by God? You do not belong to yourself. (1 Corinthians 6:19)
