“Everyone who sins is a slave to sin”, and everyone sins, right?
Yes - each of us is a slave to sin. This is why we have to continually shake off the chains of slavery by asking Jesus to forgive us. Every time we sin, it’s like writing our mistakes and failures on a chalkboard.
When we confess our sins and ask Jesus to forgive us, it’s like taking the eraser to the board and wiping it clean. Now we are able to ‘be holy, for the Lord is holy’. Our lives and prayers take on a new power when the slate is clean!
But another day comes and sadly, we too often pick up the chalk and defile the board once again. And again we must recognize our sin, ask forgiveness and let Jesus wipe the slate clean.
This is why we must pick up our cross DAILY and follow Him. Only when the Son sets us free can we ever truly walk away from the chains of our slavery to sin.
Wipe the slate clean, and breathe in the clean air of freedom!
