But still, there is something about Christmas... just thinking about the incredible plan that God put in place is mind-boggling. Sending His Son to come through the womb of a teenage girl in a small town; barely escaping death by a power-hungry King; growing up as a carpenter’s son in a seemingly normal and modest family… Yet how else could it have been done?
We cannot be saved without a Redeemer, and our sins cannot be taken away permanently by bulls or goats. And whether it’s Christmas or any other time of year, we must be willing to speak of our Savior and HIs impossibly perfect plan of salvation.
As Paul says, “How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them?” (Romans 10:14)
You see, we must be willing to speak of Christ. If you know Christ as your personal Savior, but never speak of Him to those around you, let me be clear in saying that you are not following His instructions. We must be so in love with Jesus that we have the boldness to speak of Him.
I love Christmas, and I love Christ. If I am not telling people of my Lord and Savior, then I am simply not doing what He asked, and I am diminishing the very meaning of Christmas – that Christ came to earth to save us, and left us here to be His spokespeople.
